• Once the set temperature is reached, the boiler will go into standby mode or simply switch off, while smouldering in the burner will continue, but without air supply. The result is low-temperature, very tarry gases that settle as tar deposits on all fire tubes and flue paths. In addition, with insufficient air, smouldering produces explosive pyrolysis gas.
• If the standby state lasts very long, smouldering may end with complete extinction in the burner, and boilers without automatic ignition may not light up again at all.
