The most rational solution is to use wood processing waste for the company's own needs: for heating or as a heat source for production processes (drying sawn timber, thermal modification of wood, drying agricultural produce, etc.). |
| In essence, it is free fuel. | ![]() |
PlitTorg, a company selling wood-based panels - laminated chipboard, worktops, fibreboard, plywood, OSB and other panel materials - needed to heat garages, warehouses and administrative buildings with a total heated area of 4000 m².
A FACI FSS 386 wood chip boiler with an output of 386 kW was chosen for heating.
|
Given: 7 months of heating season 210 m³ of wood chips = RUB 105,000. Heated area = 4,000 m² 210 m³ = 42 tonnes 1 kg of wood chips = 3 kWh (when burned). Task: What is the cost of 1 kW? |
Solution: 42 tonnes = 42,000 kg. 42,000 kg x 3 kWh = 126,000 kWh 105,000 / 126,000 kWh = RUB 0.83 per 1 kWh |
The price per cubic metre of wood chips is RUB 2,500. Maximum fuel consumption during the heating season was 40 m³ per month. Average wood chip consumption was 30 m³.
In total, over the 7 months of the heating season, 210 m³ of wood chips were used, costing RUB 525,000, or RUB 75,000 per month. We remind you that this is the heating of a complex of premises with a total area of almost 4000 m².
Thus, the average cost of heat energy was RUB 0.83 per kWh, which is much cheaper than heating with electricity, waste oil and even pellets.
Wood chip boilers are now at the peak of popularity among boiler equipment. They are mainly used near logging and woodworking enterprises.
Wood chips, given their low price, are a good alternative to pellets and briquettes. Using wood chips and sawdust as fuel solves the problem of disposing of woodworking waste. And modern technologies and a high level of boiler automation ensure high-quality, environmentally clean combustion of this wood waste.
The cost of one kilowatt of heat produced from pellets is 30% lower than the cost of one kilowatt of heat produced from heating oil and natural gas, and the cost of one kilowatt obtained by burning wood chips is 30% lower than that from pellets.
Wood chips are not yet subject to such strict certification requirements as pellets. Wood chips are supplied to consumers either in bulk (in a dump truck or chip truck) or packed in big bags. Deliveries by special vehicles with pneumatic hose unloading into the fuel store have already been tested (similar to the long-established logistics on the pellet market). The boilers are equipped with modern electronics that allow the equipment to be controlled remotely via the Internet and the operating mode to be changed depending on the parameters of the wood chips fed into the boiler.
Based on 20 years of experience in producing and selling FACI automatic solid fuel boilers, we can say that by using wood chips and sawdust as fuel and FACI products as boiler equipment, you get cheap heat, reliable and stable equipment operation, and profitable disposal of wood processing waste.
Choose only the highest quality equipment!
